
Alexander Kraft van Ermel - Piano
Alexander Kraft van Ermel (born 1990 in The Hague, Holland) comes from a musical family. He is the grandson of Antillean composer / pianist Wim Statius Muller and the son of Alfred Kraft van Ermel and Annette Statius Muller, from whom he received his first piano lessons at age seven.
Alexander received most of his musical education from his grandfather. He participated in master classes at the Manhattan School of Music in New York given by David Dubal, at the Cas di Cultura in Aruba with Alan Weiss, and most recently in Curaçao under the tutelage of the visiting Georgian pianist Nino Gvetadze.
In 2007 Alexander won the Aruba Piano Festival and in February, 2008, he was awarded second prize in his age category in Paris at the International Piano Competition organized by the Russian Conservatory Alexander Scriabin. Together with Wim Statius Muller he gave a concert in St. Maarten at the Belair Community Centre in September, 2007. In October of 2007 he played at the Juilliard School in New York in a Music Appreciation Class hosted by David Dubal.
