Min Kwon - Piano

A Steinway Artist, Min Kwon is in demand around the world as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. Having trained at Curtis Institute of Music (BM), The Juilliard School (MM & DMA), and Mozarteum in Salzburg (post-doc), her professional engagements have taken her to over 60 countries on 7 continents and to all 50 states in the US, including such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, the United Nations in New York, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, Seoul Arts Center in Korea, BorseSaal in Vienna, Klementinum in Prague, and to the festivals of Aspen, Ravinia, Cape & Islands, Caramoor, Colmar (France), Salzburg and Altenburg (Austria), Kuhmo (Finland), Interlaken (Switzerland), Freiburg (Germany), and Prague (Czech Republic).

Recent performances include critically acclaimed solo recitals at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall in New York and at Steinway Hall in London and Sydney. Highlights of the 2009-2010 season include performances with the principals of the Philadelphia Orchestra, a series of all Schubert Four Hand recital with Viennese pianist Robert Lehrbaumer, and world premieres of three newly commissioned works, especially written for her. Ms. Kwon has been soloist under James Conlon, Alan Gilbert, Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, Vaktang Jiordania, and, as a chamber musician, collaborated with the principal players of New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and many other distinguished artists.

Min Kwon has given over 200 joint recitals with her sister, violinist Yoon Kwon, throughout the United States under the auspices of CAMI, and has recorded for BMG/RCA Red Seal and MSR Classics. Her solo album of Schubert and Liszt earned a Grammy for Best Producer of the Year (David Frost) in 2009. A dedicated teacher, she is regularly invited to teach at major institutions and festivals around the world, among them the Royal College of Music in London, Shanghai Conservatory and Beijing Central Conservatory in China, National University of Singapore, Academy of Fine Arts in Hong Kong, Vladmir Feltsman's Summerfest in New York, AMEROPA International Festival in Prague, Positano International Festival in Italy, and Altenburg Music Akademie and MozartFest in Austria. Min Kwon is currently a Professor of Music at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
