Anne-Marie McDermott - Piano

For over 25 years Anne-Marie McDermott has played concertos, recitals and chamber music in hundreds of cities throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. Her most recent activity includes a debut at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig performing Bernstein's Age of Anxiety with the MDR Orchestra; concerts with The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center at Wigmore Hall in London, Aarhus and Hamburg; and the release of her fourth acclaimed recording -- an all-Chopin disc -- on Bridge Records. Earlier this month she played chamber music as well as Schumann's Piano Concerto in the Cartegena International Music Festival. Upcoming concerts take her to Norway, Rio de Janeiro, Rome and Toulouse. Ms. McDermott's early career was nurtured by Susan Wadsworth and her agency, Young Concert Artists, which sponsored her acclaimed New York Recital debut in 1986. The breadth of Ms. McDermott's repertoire matches that of her instrument, spanning from Bach, Haydn and Beethoven to Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev and Scriabin to works by today’s most influential composers. In addition to being an Artist Member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, she was recently named Artistic Director of the Vail Music Festival (CO), and continues to lead chamber music festivals in Florida and Curacao. About her inaugural season in Vail last summer, the Denver Post's Kyle Gann wrote, "There was an overall feeling of rejuvenation and fresh excitement that could be heard in conversations among attendees and just sensed at the festival’s many offerings." Most recently she was appointed Curator of the Mainly Mozart Festival's Spotlight Series in San Diego. She began making recordings in 2005, starting with Bach's Partitas and English Suites, noted as Gramophone Magazine “Editor's Choice,” an accolade also bestowed on her Gershwin: Complete Works for Piano and Orchestra (Dallas Symphony, 2008, Bridge Records) About her critically acclaimed recording of the The Complete Prokofiev Piano Sonatas (2009, Bridge Records), Gramophone wrote “we have waited a long time for an American pianist of this stature.”
