
Lily Francis - Violin - Viola
Lily Francis is a dynamic musician, sought after both as a violinist and a violist. As a member of Chamber Music Society Two, a residency program with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for distinguished young artists; she regularly performs at Lincoln Center and other prestigious New York venues.
A diverse and compelling artist, Ms. Francis has given recitals in many major U.S. cities, including New York, at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall; in Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago. She has been soloist with the Hartford Symphony, the Connecticut Virtuosi, and the New Britain Symphony, among others, and has collaborated with many of the great artists of our time: David Finckel, Ani Kavafian, Ida Kavafian, Kim Kashkashian, Anton Kuerti, Paul Neubauer, Arnold Steinhardt and Mitsuko Uchida, among others. Her festival appearances include Bridgehampton Chamber Music, Caramoor Rising Stars and Virtuosi, Santa Fe Chamber Festival, Music from Angel Fire, New Mexico, OK Mozart, Seattle Chamber Festival, Eastern Shore Chamber Music, and she has been featured on several Musicians from Marlboro tours.
Ms. Francis is the violist of the Vertigo String Quartet, which has performed around the U.S., Austria and Italy. They recorded the soundscape for Michael Hollinger's award-winning play "Opus" which earned them a Barrymore award for their unique collaboration. During their 2007-2008 residency at Bargemusic in Brooklyn, NewYork, they performed sixteen concerts of eight different programs over the season, to critical acclaim by The New York Sun and The Strad.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute (B.M.'06) and New England Conservatory (M.M.'08), Ms. Francis studied with Joseph Silverstein and Miriam Fried. Other teachers have included Philip Setzer, Brian Lewis, Teri Einfeldt and Steve Tenenbom.
